SPEAKER_00:

How does the devil identify your weakness? How does he know when you're devourable? Hey friend, welcome to the Truly a Masterpiece podcast. I'm Craig Walker, founder of Craig Walker Coaching, author of the book Shameless, The Life You Were Born to Love, and the creator of the Truly a Masterpiece course and podcast. Now, if you've ever wrestled with self-doubt or shame, that voice that whispers that you're just not enough, or maybe the fear that people are about to figure you out, you're in the right place. I feel your pain. For most of my life, I lived with fear and insecurity until one night in 2014 when I told God, Enough. Like Jacob, I wrestled with him until he gave me the insights that changed everything. Today, by his grace, I live with more confidence, love, and joy than I ever thought possible. I want to help you do the same. Each week I'll share biblical truths, practical tools, and real stories from people who are just like you, but they won their battle with shame and self-doubt, and they're living that life that God created them to love. So grab a cup of coffee, settle in. This is gonna be fun. Let's get started. Today I'm excited to show you how to declaw the devil. Yeah, you heard me right. I'm gonna show you how to declaw him. The Bible says that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, and he's looking for someone that he can devour. Now, you and I both know the devil doesn't devour everyone. He wants to. No, he goes after the weak, those who are vulnerable. Say, I want to show you something. I want to show you how the devil identify your weakness? How does he know when you're devourable? Two, what does the devil do when he finds your weakness? And three, I'm gonna show you how to declaw him so that you can live that life Jesus came to give you. Ready? Let's get started. Number one, how does the devil identify your weakness? How does he know that he spotted someone that he can take down? Well, he's looking for your tell. A tell, it's a behavior that reveals a hidden, covered weakness. Poker players, they have tells. Uh kids have tells, leaders have tells. You and I, you have them, we have them too. Now, your tell, it's what you do when you feel insecure. You pretend when you don't know something. You act uninterested, even when you really are. You procrastinate when you know you really ought to be doing something. You strive for perfection because for you, good's never good enough. Some people they just self-medicate with food, work, alcohol, sex, porn. Your tell it's your behavior. Your tell is that behavior that signals you're weak. Your tell is that fear that's driven by your behavior. It comes from a place where where you're insecure in God's love. When your enemy sees your tell, he knows, oh, I have found someone that's not yet become secure in God's love. That's a devourable person. What's he do next? Well, he, like a poker player, he goes all in. He turns up the pressure, he magnifies the weaknesses, he whispers lies. You're not enough. He attacks your confidence, he pushes you towards isolation. All he's doing is amplifying your shame. See, he's not content just to embarrass you. No, he wants to destroy you. Then he wants to destroy your marriage, your influence, your confidence, your joy, your family, your very purpose for existence. Now, how do you declaw him? What do you do about this? Well, you can't declaw him by trying harder just to hide your tell. You declaw him by becoming rooted in God's love. Paul tells us in Ephesians chapter 3 that we're to make Christ at home in our hearts. As we do this, or we do this by trusting in him. When you trust in him, and I'm not saying just get saved, no, I'm saying trust him over your insecurity. When you do, he says your roots will grow down into God's love and they'll keep you strong. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. That's yours. When your identity is rooted in God's love, you stop pretending. You stop hiding. You stop performing for approval. You don't act strong. You know why? Because you become strong. The devil looks at you and he says, Nope, not today, not this one. That's what it means to declaw the devil. So let me just give you three steps that will help you put this into practice today. You ready? Number one, identify your tell. What insecurity is driving your behavior? You have to name it to tame it. I'm afraid that I'm not smart enough. Is that it? I'm afraid I'm not lovable enough. I'm afraid I'm not good enough, I'm not holy enough, pure enough. I'm just afraid that I don't have what it takes. You ever feel like that? You gotta name it. Write it down, name it. Number two, identify how do you compensate? What specific behavior do you do when you have that not enough feeling? When you feel insecure, what do you do? Do you procrastinate? Do you pretend? Do you get angry? Do you make excuses? Do you blame others? Do you overwork? Do you self-medicate? Here's the guild. You've just got to be honest. Now then you're ready for step three. Give it to Jesus. I don't mean mentally, I don't mean theologically, I mean practically. Step into Jesus, stop procrastinating and show up. Instead of pretending, tell the truth. Instead of self-medicating, get help. Take the next best step. Jesus, help us to take the next best step. Lean into Him by faith. Friend, I don't do this perfectly, but when I follow this process uh consistently, you know what I find? I find that I stay rooted in God's love. And when I stay rooted in God's love, the devil, he's still around. He's not out of my life. But he's like the lion that's inside the zoo. He's the one locked behind the fence. And I'm the one free to roam about, and I'm looking for demons that I can devour. And friend, the same freedom, it's available to you. If you want help putting this into practice, let me know. This is what I do. This is my calling. I would love to walk you through this. If you need help, like a regular encouragement in your email, subscribe to my email. The link is in the notes. Each Tuesday morning, I'll I'll put a new and encouraging, helpful email in your inbox. Let me pray with you now. Father in heaven, I lift my friends up to you today. Lord God, I pray that you would strengthen them with your spirit and that inner person so that Christ can be at home in their hearts. Because then they will trust in him. Not just for salvation, but but for the security. They'll trust him over everything in their life, not running in fear, not compensating, but living, really living. And when they do this, Father, they will experience all the fullness of your power and your life that's found in God. Thank you, Father. In the name of Jesus, I pray for your help for myself and every person that's listened today. Amen. Friend, I hope this has been helpful. I hope you've enjoyed it. And I'll see you again next time.
